Gigi is a joyful and radiant 9-year-old living with Phelan-McDermid Syndrome, a rare chromosomal deletion (22q13.3) that impacts expressive and receptive language, as well as cognitive development. Early signs of developmental delays became noticeable around age 3, prompting the start of speech therapy. Soon after, occupational and physical therapies were added to support her growth. A referral to a neurologist led to genetic testing, which ultimately confirmed her diagnosis.

Despite the academic, social, attentional, and physical challenges that come with her condition, Gigi continues to make remarkable progress through her therapies, daily routines, and family support.

Her bright personality and enthusiasm for life shine in everything she does. Gigi delights in all things princess—especially dressing up and twirling in her favorite gowns. She expresses herself through singing, dancing, and creating vibrant works of art. Gigi also shares a deep, loving bond with her sister June, who is one of her greatest sources of joy.

Whether she’s painting, performing an original song, or spinning in a ball gown, Gigi radiates positivity and inspires everyone around her with her creativity, resilience, and spirit.
