Alternating Hemiplegia of Childhood (AHC)
High School Team:
Laci Jones – Carter's Champion Athlete Ambassador Attorney, Mother of 2, President of the Board for Center for Child Protection, and finisher of several marathons and triathlons. At 15 months old, Carter was diagnosed with Alternating Hemiplegia of Childhood (AHC). He suffers from sporadic paralysis due to several triggers which cause onset (when weather changes, bright light, cold water and windy conditions). Carter suffers from paralysis of 1 or both sides of his body about 75% of his life. The episodes come on randomly and can last from 1 to 14 days. When both sides are paralyzed, he cannot walk, talk or eat. Carter has had every test imaginable done. As of now, there is no medication or treatment for his disorder yet.
